"When Does Ramadan 2024 End? Could the Solar Eclipse Impact Eid al-Fitr?"
"When Does Ramadan 2024 End? Could the Solar Eclipse Impact Eid al-Fitr?"
Muslims worldwide are getting ready to observe Eid al-Fitr, known as the "festival of breaking the fast," one of the two significant holidays in Islam.
Eid al-Fitr starts at the conclusion of Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam, during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and prioritize prayer and self-reflection. It is anticipated to commence either on Tuesday or Wednesday, contingent upon the sighting of the crescent moon.
The timing of Eid festivities hinges on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon. Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar have announced April 10 as the date for Eid celebrations. However, in India, Pakistan & Other Asia Countries Eid al-Fitr 2024 is anticipated to fall on either April 10 or 11.
There's speculation among experts that the solar eclipse might affect the moon sighting process. There are reports suggesting that the crescent moon might not be visible immediately after the eclipse, potentially postponing the sighting until April 9, 2024. Eid festivities commence the day after the crescent moon is sighted. Eid al-Fitr, also known as Ramadan Eid, marks the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan.
